O-RAN Overview – 1 or 2 days

CONTENTS

The course provides a technical overview of O-RAN as specified by the O-RAN Alliance. The motives and objectives for O-RAN are described as well as O-RAN’s relationship to 3GPP and the 3GPP technical specifications.

The course describes the O-RAN architecture and terminology, central functions and concepts like SMO, Non-Real Time RAN Intelligent Controller, Near-Real Time RAN Intelligent Controller, O-Cloud, Radio Network Information Base and xApps. Relevant interfaces and protocols are described. A number of signaling sequences will be presented during the course in order to account for central procedures and use-cases.
