CONTENT
Students attending the course will get an overview of the OpenStack core IaaS components (Nova, Keystone, Glance, Neutron, Cinder, Swift) continued by component relationships and an introduction to other OpenStack PaaS and MaNO programs (Horizon, Heat, Ceilometer, Trove, Sahara etc.). On the first day emphasis is given on the basic understanding and operation of OpenStack to give the students the ability to start with the hands-on labs. Day two is dedicated to OpenStack networking and storage concepts and orchestration. On day three advanced topics including production deployments and tools, troubleshooting and a competitive comparison are discussed. Throughout the course the students have the ability to test concepts learned out in the labs for which about 50% of the time is dedicated every day.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Technical IT professionals (Engineers, Administrators, Architects and DevOps) with prior experience in Virtualization and OpenSource software. Basic posix command line skills in Linux, storage and networking experience is also required.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
– Describe the IaaS functionality of an OpenStack installation
– Describe the mechanisms and services that provide functionality to OpenStack
– Identify the use cases and have the ability to plan a production deployment
– Have the ability to perform basic service-level troubleshooting
– Manage identity task in OpenStack
– Get hands on experience in creating and deploying instances, manage users, roles, projects
– Get familiar with the Dashboard GUI and OpenStack CLI
